Dia Mundial das Comunicações Sociais: mensageiros da paz

“Escolhi como tema para o Dia da Comunicação 2018: ‘A verdade vos tornará livres’ (Jo 8, 32). Notícias falsas e jornalismo de paz”, afirma Sumo Pontífice

Esse é o tema do 52º Dia Mundial das Comunicações Sociais. O anúncio foi realizado pelo Papa no dia 29 de setembro de 2017, festa litúrgica dos Santos Arcanjos Miguel, Rafael e Gabriel (este padroeiro dos comunicadores).

Na modernidade imediata, sobrecarregada de informações disseminadas rapidamente, torna-se um desafio distinguir notícias que sejam construções narrativas da realidade das que sejam notícias falsas (ou “fake news”). De acordo com Dominique Brossard, professora de Comunicação da Universidade de Wisconsin-Madison, fake news são produzidas usando informação falsa, com o objetivo de serem compartilhadas como notícias reais para influenciar pessoas[1].

Nesse panorama, a Igreja Católica traz o tema para reflexão, a fim de auxiliar “na promoção de um jornalismo profissional, que busca sempre a verdade, e por isto um jornalismo de paz, que promova a compreensão entre as pessoas”, dispõe o comunicado da Vatican Radio.

O último tema do Dia Mundial das Comunicações Sociais aproxima-se da promoção ao jornalismo de paz: “Não tenhas medo, que Eu estou contigo” (Is 43,5). Comunicar esperança e confiança no nosso tempo. ” A ideia do último tema é de transpor o mau humor, resignação, medo, apatia, causados pelas notícias más, e voltar-se a lógica da “boa notícia”. Segundo Papa Francisco, não significa proporcionar desinformação nem otimismo ingênuo, mas buscar uma abordagem que, em vez de protagonizar o mal, levando-o a espetáculo, conceda soluções, incentive uma comunicação construtiva, promova o olhar da realidade com confiança.

“A vida do homem não se reduz a uma crónica asséptica de eventos, mas é história, e uma história à espera de ser contada através da escolha duma chave interpretativa capaz de selecionar e reunir os dados mais importantes. Em si mesma, a realidade não tem um significado unívoco. Tudo depende do olhar com que a enxergamos, dos «óculos» que decidimos pôr para a ver: mudando as lentes, também a realidade aparece diversa. Então, qual poderia ser o ponto de partida bom para ler a realidade com os «óculos» certos?”, diz Francisco[2].

Diante da intenção de propagar uma comunicação ética e de verdade, os esforços da Igreja mantêm-se. Em ação promovida pela Rede Mundial de Oração do Papa (Apostolado da Oração), chamada O Vídeo do Papa, em outubro do ano passado, Sua Santidade divulgou uma mensagem aos jornalistas, indicando a necessidade de informações que se dirigem ao bem da humanidade e do planeta:

Todo o mês, o Papa divulga pedidos de oração a respeito de desafios da humanidade, no canal oficial no youtube.

O Dia Mundial das Comunicações Sociais foi estabelecido pelo Concílio do Vaticano II. Essa reunião teve como um dos resultados o decreto Inter Mirifica sobre os meios de comunicação social, em 1966, que dispôs sobre o Dia Mundial: “Para que se revigore o apostolado da Igreja em relação com os meios de comunicação social, deve celebrar-se em cada ano em todas as dioceses do mundo, a juízo do Bispo, um dia em que os fiéis sejam doutrinados a respeito das suas obrigações nesta matéria, convidados a orar por esta causa e a dar uma esmola para este fim, a qual ser destinada a sustentar e a fomentar, segundo as necessidades do orbe católico, as instituições e as iniciativas promovidas pela Igreja nesta matéria. ”[3] O primeiro Dia Mundial das Comunicações Sociais ocorreu no ano seguinte, em 7 de maio de 1967.

Desde o Pontificado do Papa João Paulo II, com o 20º Dia Mundial das Comunicações Sociais, cada Pontífice tem publicado uma mensagem a respeito dessa data todo dia 24 de janeiro, festa de São Francisco de Sales, padroeiro dos jornalistas e escritores. A data mundial é celebrada no domingo que antecede o Dia de Pentecostes. Em 2018, será no dia 13 de maio, dia de Nossa Senhora de Fátima (mais especial que isso, jamais!).
